EMMANUELLE HUYNH + students of P.A.R.T.S + ENSAV La Cambre + ENSBA Paris | 3 one-hour sessions : 6pm, 7pm, 8pm

The culmination of a one-week workshop led by Emmanuelle Huynh about her recent work, Formation, an adaptation of the book of the same name by Pierre Guyotat. With the participation of the P.A.R.T.S school, founded by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in Brussels, students from the workshop by Emmanuelle Huynh in Dance / Choreography/ Performance at l’ENSBA Paris, as well as students from the contemporary writing workshop at l’École Nationale d’Arts Visuels de La Cambre.

Formation depicts life as a slow process of education/transformation in which persistence, slowness and sudden accelerations continually reconfigure the vision of a construct or a situation. The collaboration between the students from the different programmes leads to a dialogue between the texts by Pierre Guyotat and danced interventions based on the motifs from the piece choreographed by Emmanuelle Huynh.

Born in 1963, Emmanuelle Huynh studied philosophy and dance. After interpreting the work of others as a dancer, she created her first original work: the solo Múa. From 2004 to 2012, Emmanuelle Huynh was the director of the National Contemporary Dance Centre in Angers (CNDC). In October 2014, she created Tôzai!… a piece for 6 dancers. Since September 2016, she has been a professor of choreography, dance and performance at l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. ‘Formation’ is her most recent work, from 2017, which also received a production grant from the Fondation Thalie.
